Discover the Hidden Gems of Southern Africa

Traveloma Tours & Safaris is a small organisation with big dreams. We envision a better South Africa for all and Traveloma is our tool to contribute to this vision of a South Africa that is more equal and just.

Traveloma is 100 % black-owned and we support small local businesses wherever possible. We stay at Fair Trade in Tourism certified hostels and work with environmentally conscious businesses as much as we can. By travelling with Traveloma, you directly contribute to the livelihoods of everyone involved in the trip, from the staff working for the guesthouses we stay at, the suppliers who provide their services and the communities we visit.

Be part of our journey to use tourism as a tool to create a more inclusive and sustainable tourism industry in South Africa - while having a wonderful holiday in our beautiful country!

Annika Surmeier

Travel Consultant

Originally from Germany, Annika lives and works in Cape Town. At Traveloma, Annika co-designs journeys with Tobz that allow people to experience South Africa from a different perspective while using tourism as a tool to tackle inequality in the South African tourism sector. In her free time, Annika loves hiking and, with her passion for travelling, keeps exploring South Africa and neighbouring African countries.

This tour takes you to the Transkei, a former ‘homeland‘ which is now part of the Eastern Cape and home to the Xhosa people. Tobz will take you for a day tour along the Great Kei river, along the dramatic coastline, jagged cliffs, wild beaches and rolling hills and valleys. Before you will visit a rural African village and  a traditional healer, Tobz will happily teach you some Xhosa, a language with clicks, so you can chat to the locals.

Duration: Half or full day.

Hiking & Surfing the Wild Coast
Due to its incredible natural beauty and welcoming people, the Wild Coast is ideal for hiking. We can organise easy to medium terrain hikes, but also more long and challenging ones if you are keen to test your limits. There are many fantastic surfing spots as well and we are happy to organise lessons or boards for you.

The Wild Coast is South Africa’s best kept secret. This is the area where Tobz grew up and which he still calls home. The region has not yet been accessed by most tourism developments but is one of the most stunning natural treasures of South Africa and a biodiversity hotspot. There is so much to do - you can visit rural villages, go hiking, kayaking, kloofing, surfing - anything is possible. Let us know and we will make a plan together.
